Is kapton tape thermally conductive?

Standard Kapton (polyimide) tape is primarily designed as an electrical insulator and a heat-resistant barrier, with a relatively low thermal conductivity (around 0.12 W/m-K). It acts more like a thermal insulator than a conductor.

If your application requires both the high-voltage insulation of a polyimide film and efficient heat dissipation, we offer Specialized Thermally Conductive PI Tapes and our Silicone-Modified Acrylic Thermal Tapes (1.0 – 1.2 W/m-K) to bridge that gap perfectly.

Is thermal tape electrically conductive?

No. Our tape is engineered to be electrically insulating. It uses non-conductive ceramic fillers instead of metal powders, delivering a dielectric breakdown of ≥ 3.0 kV to safely prevent short circuits on PCBs and electronics.

Does fiberglass tape have thermal conductivity?

Yes, ours does. While pure fiberglass is an insulator, our tape achieves a high thermal conductivity of 1.0 – 1.2 W/m-K because the fiberglass carrier is fully coated on both sides with a ceramic-filled polymer. The fiberglass grid functions purely for structural reinforcement without blocking heat transfer.
