Kapton is a registered trademark of DuPont polyimide film. Our polyimide tape uses advanced PI film, which is compatible with ® Kapton’s performance is the same, so there is no difference between them.
PI tape can stably withstand continuous high temperatures above 260°C, without shrinking or carbonizing during soldering or hot pressing, and possesses extremely high dielectric strength, making it a robust choice for PCB masking and lithium battery insulation. In contrast, PET tape is positioned for ‘medium-temperature protection,’ with a temperature resistance limit typically around 150°C. While it offers good physical toughness and cost-effectiveness, it is prone to deformation when temperatures exceed 180°C. In summary, for extreme soldering environments, PI tape must be chosen to ensure safety, whereas in conventional baking or bundling scenarios, PET tape serves as a more economical alternative.
