Start by choosing a 100% polyester thread that matches the garment’s color for high strength and wear resistance. Use a straight stitch with a medium length (approx. 2.5mm – 3.0mm); avoid stitching too densely to prevent the material from tearing. Never use pins to hold the tape in place, as they leave permanent holes. When finished, pull the thread tails to the inside of the garment and tie them off to prevent the stitching from unravelling due to external friction.
Use a heat press or a household iron with the steam turned off. Typically, you press at 140°C–160°C for 10–15 seconds using firm pressure. Let the tape cool completely before peeling off the plastic carrier film.
Yes, clothing reflective tapes are waterproof and can withstand rain and humidity. However, water droplets on the surface of the tape will temporarily reduce its reflectivity.
Heat transfer reflective tape works best on cotton, polyester, and blended fabrics. It does not bond well to nylon, water-repellent treated fabrics, or highly textured/fleece materials because the adhesive cannot firmly grip the fibers.
It is best to avoid the dryer. High heat can cause the reflective layer to crack or the adhesive to melt and lose its grip. If you must use a dryer, use the “Low Heat” or “Air Dry” setting. Air drying is always the best way to extend the life of the tape.
