Thread sealant is a type of pipe coating primarily used for sealing pipe threads to prevent gas or liquid leakage.
Generally, at room temperature, the adhesive is initially solidified for 30 minutes, and fully solidified after about 6 hours. It is recommended to put it into use after 24 hours, and the time is extended for inert metals or in winter.
Anaerobic adhesive only solidifies under anaerobic conditions, and the adhesive does not solidify after opening the lid.
It can be stored and stored normally. Tanyo anaerobic adhesive has a shelf life of two years.
Pipe thread sealants come in different types: low-strength sealants are removable; high-strength thread-locker glues form a permanent seal upon curing, making them difficult to disassemble.
PTFE thread sealant or anaerobic thread locker can be used for gas pipelines. Anaerobic adhesive is liquid and can fully penetrate the thread to provide excellent gas-tightness.
Thread sealant should be used in applications involving frequently vibrating fastener connections, threaded interfaces requiring prevention of liquid or gas leakage, joints between different metal materials, locations needing sealing for corrosion protection, or situations demanding extremely high anti-loosening reliability.
Thread sealant cannot replace plumber’s putty; the former is specifically used for preventing loosening and sealing threaded connections, while the latter is used for filling gaps at pipe joints.
The characteristic of anaerobic adhesive is anaerobic solidification, so the bottle is designed to be large and needs sufficient oxygen inside to be stored for a long time, but the adhesive inside is sufficient.
