What Is Aluminum Foil Butyl Waterproof Tape?
Also known as aluminum sealing tape, it is a waterproof sealing material made of butyl rubber. One side of the tape is bonded with aluminum foil, which combines the adhesive properties of butyl rubber with the weather resistance of aluminum foil.
Our aluminum foil butyl tape adopts advanced manufacturing technology, no harmful substances are added, and no irritating smell evaporates during use so that you can use it with more confidence.
Its aluminum foil surface can effectively reflect ultraviolet rays and has the dual functions of heat preservation and sun protection. In addition, this tape has a service life of about 20 years and is widely used in many fields such as construction, electric power, and automobiles.

Aluminum foil tape is a kind of tape with aluminum foil backing on the surface, including two types: pure aluminum foil tape and aluminum foil butyl tape. It also belongs to the category of duct tape. Duct tape is a general name for various adhesive tapes used to wrap pipes for sealing protection. Its materials include PVC, aluminum foil, rubber, and other types.
Before using butyl tape, the adhesive surface must first be thoroughly cleaned and ensured that it is completely dry. Then, measure the length of the desired tape and carefully peel off the release film on the back. Next, the tape is carefully applied to the predetermined position. After application, be sure to apply even pressure from the center of the tape towards the edges with appropriate force to ensure that it adheres tightly to the surface, excludes internal air, and avoids the formation of bubbles.
When cutting butyl tape, you can use scissors to cut along the desired length, or you can use a wallpaper knife or other cutter to cut. Please pay attention to safety when operating, and avoid injuring your fingers by excessive force.
Butyl tape does not require a “cure” time in the traditional sense. It is a highly adhesive, never-curing sealing material that relies primarily on instant adhesion and constant pressure to form a seal.
Butyl adhesive tape is extremely self-adhesive and can be firmly bonded to concrete, wood, metal, stone, plastic, and other substrates to form an effective sealing layer.
10 cm (approximately 4 inches) of butyl tape is suitable for common RV window gaps. If the gap is small, you can choose the 5 cm (about 2 inches) size. The length can be flexibly selected according to the actual construction needs.
